Gift Cars for Employees are NOT Tax Deductible but Awards are!

Employee Gift Cards are no longer deductible to the employer!

Here’s what the IRS has to say about it

https://www.irs.gov/faqs/small-business-self-employed-other-business/income-expenses/income-expenses-8

Incidental costs such as engraving, packing or shipping aren’t included in the limit if they don’t add substantial value to the gift.

Any item that could be considered either a gift or as entertainment is generally considered entertainment and cannot be deducted.

So, in brief, the IRS says NO to deducting employee gift cards but YES to awards like walnut plaques, modern looking plaques, custom shaped acrylic awards, acrylic trophies, glass trophies, most engraved items and the like!
